Westminster Leaders Visit Scotland as Holyrood Election Nears
Several senior Westminster politicians are visiting Scotland today as campaigning intensifies ahead of the Scottish Parliament election in May.
Among those making the trip are Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, and Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch. Their visits come just over 100 days before voters go to the polls on May 7.
Recent polling suggests the Scottish National Party will remain the largest party at Holyrood. However, it may fall short of securing an outright majority. At the same time, competition for second place is tightening, with Scottish Labour and Reform UK polling closely.
Keir Starmer Begins Media Tour in Scotland

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is in Scotland this morning for a series of broadcast interviews. His visit follows recent comments by Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, who acknowledged that the UK Labour government’s performance could affect his party’s chances in the Holyrood election.
A recent Survation poll found that nearly half of respondents said Labour’s record at Westminster made them less likely to vote for Scottish Labour. The findings highlight growing concerns within the party as the campaign period approaches.
Nigel Farage Announces Reform UK Leadership in Scotland

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage is visiting Kirkcaldy, where he is expected to formally announce his party’s leadership in Scotland. This marks his second visit north of the border in just over a month.
Farage recently confirmed former Conservative peer Lord Malcolm Offord as Reform UK’s Scottish leader. Offord previously served in the Scotland Office before resigning his peerage and defecting to Reform UK last month. His appointment signals the party’s push to gain ground in Scotland.
Kemi Badenoch Targets Scottish Government Policies

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch is attending an event in Edinburgh alongside Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay. During her visit, she is expected to criticise the Scottish Government’s budget.
Her focus is likely to include welfare spending and increases in overseas aid. Badenoch is also scheduled to meet Sandie Peggie, a nurse involved in an ongoing employment tribunal related to workplace policies at a hospital in Kirkcaldy.
Other Senior Figures Join the Scotland Visits

Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander is accompanying the Prime Minister and is playing a central role in Labour’s Holyrood campaign strategy. Energy Secretary Ed Miliband is also part of the visit, following the approval of a major contract for the Berwick Bank offshore wind farm.
Meanwhile, Conservative frontbencher Andrew Bowie is joining Badenoch in Edinburgh. Reports also indicate that Defence Secretary John Healey is visiting the Faslane area.
Election Campaign Gains Momentum
With the election approaching, today’s visits underline the importance Scotland holds for UK-wide parties. As polling tightens and party leaders increase their presence, the campaign for Holyrood is entering a more competitive phase.
