Singer Peter Okoye has given his Peter Okoye P-Square royalties testimony before the Federal High Court in Lagos. He confirmed that he received and kept more than $800,000 in music earnings without paying a share to his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
The virtual court appearance was part of an ongoing legal case involving alleged financial misappropriation of N1.3 billion and $1 million linked to the music group’s business activities and international publishing revenue
The court heard that foreign royalties increased significantly over the 10-year period from 2016 to 2026. Peter Okoye confirmed that he received the payments directly into accounts used for performance revenue.

During cross-examination, Peter Okoye explained that the money, received from the French rights organisation SACEM between 2016 and 2026, belonged only to the performing artists and was not meant for management representation.
.
The virtual hearing at the Federal High Court in Lagos revealed important details about the management and distribution of P-Square royalties. Peter Okoye testified remotely and answered questions about foreign account payments and management contracts signed while the group was active.
According to statements made in court, the money was paid by SACEM, a French organisation that collects and distributes royalties for authors, composers and music publishers around the world.
The testimony also covered the rights of Peter’s twin brother, Paul Okoye, who is the other half of the popular Afrobeats duo P-Square.
Peter confirmed that the money was meant for the performing artists. He said that he and Paul were the only creators and public faces of P-Square throughout the group’s career.
Peter insisted that although Jude Okoye had served as the group’s manager and director at Northside Entertainment for many years, he did not have any creative rights over their music.
After the virtual cross-examination ended, the judge adjourned the case until December 8 and 9, 2026, for the trial to continue and for more evidence to be presented.

“Lawyers for both sides are expected to submit additional financial statements and Northside Entertainment records to support their claims regarding the Peter Okoye P-Square royalties testimony.
