The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) sent several fire trucks to the scene to fight the fire and stop it from spreading to nearby businesses and homes.
Eyewitnesses said the flames initially looked small but quickly became worse because of plastics, chemicals, and other flammable materials at the factory.
Accra North Industrial Area fire
Nearby business owners and residents left the area as thick smoke and intense heat spread around them. The fire also caused major traffic delays along the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and Avenor roads.
Firefighters faced serious challenges when they arrived at the scene. The layout of the North Industrial Area and the crowded structures in Avenor made it difficult for large fire trucks to reach some areas. Fire crews from Circle, Industrial Area, and the National Headquarters were sent to help fight the fire and protect nearby properties
Officials are still investigating the number of casualties. However, some residents reported that people were missing and expressed concern about children who may have been in nearby informal structures.
The Accra North Industrial Area fire is believed to have caused millions of Ghana cedis in property damage. Warehouses, raw materials, and industrial machines were among the items affected.

The Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Police Service have secured the area to control crowds and give emergency workers clear access to the scene.
