Eyewitnesses said members of the OK Movement and other supporters gathered near major roads in Uyo for a peaceful march before security forces intervened.
The opposition march started peacefully in central Uyo, with supporters carrying placards and calling for political reform, grassroots participation, and economic relief. Tension reportedly began when security officials asked the organisers to change their planned route to avoid major government areas.

According to reports, security officers later used tear gas to disperse the crowd, causing protesters to run into nearby streets. The OK Movement brings together supporters of the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements and has been building its political presence in Akwa Ibom.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has said political groups must notify the police and obtain proper clearance before holding rallies and processions. The police said the requirement is meant to help with security planning, traffic control, and the protection of participants and the public.

Movement spokespersons said the coalition would continue its grassroots activities despite the police intervention After the reported arrest, police officers secured the area, dispersed the remaining groups, and maintained a strong presence around major junctions in Uyo.
