The death toll from the devastating Bhotekoshi flood in Nepal has risen to 626, while 2,426 people remain missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. Authorities report that 4,451 people have been rescued so far, and 101 injured individuals are receiving treatment in hospitals. To support the massive search and relief effort, More than 15,224 security personnel have been mobilized across the affected districts to support search, rescue, and relief operations.
The Nepal flood death toll struck Rasuwa at around 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday and spread to several districts along the river, including Nuwakot, Dhading, and Gorkha. Police had recovered 616 bodies by early Saturday morning before the national death toll was updated. Despite the large number of rescues, thousands of people remain unaccounted for, adding urgency to the ongoing operations.

Nepal’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology is closely monitoring rainfall and river conditions across the country, including at the Bhotekoshi station in Rasuwagadhi. The Prime Minister’s Office announced that the government has intensified search, rescue, and relief operations across the flood‑hit districts. It also appealed for contributions to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support those affected. Rescue teams continue to search for survivors and missing persons while authorities assess the full impact of the flooding.
With more than 15,000 security personnel on the ground, operations remain extensive but challenging. The possibility of further rain is a major concern, as it could hamper access to remote locations and make conditions more dangerous for both rescuers and survivors. Despite these difficulties, authorities are pressing ahead with efforts to locate those still missing and provide assistance to communities affected by the flood.
