A major fire broke out at a mechanical workshop on Oladunni Street in the Isheri-Idimu area of Lagos State. The fire destroyed about 21 luxury cars belonging to a popular car dealer, Mohammed Lexus. Emergency officials arrived at the scene and stopped the flames from spreading to nearby homes and a fuel station. The incident has raised concerns about fire safety and how quickly emergency services respond to such emergencies in Lagos.
The Lagos workshop luxury cars fire broke out late last month, spreading across the entire workshop and destroying car parts, spare parts and other materials around the luxury vehicles parked on the premises.
Emergency teams from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were sent to the scene. Despite the difficult conditions, firefighters managed to control the blaze before it reached a nearby petrol station. This helped prevent a more serious disaster.

Authorities confirmed that nobody died or suffered injuries during the incident.
However, Mohammed Lexus, the owner of the destroyed cars, expressed sadness over the loss. In interviews with media outlets, he complained that firefighters took too long to arrive at the scene. He also claimed that some emergency teams arrived with limited water supplies, making it difficult to control the fire.
His comments sparked reactions online, with many residents and motorists raising concerns about emergency response in Lagos. Some pointed to traffic congestion, poor roads and other challenges that can delay emergency workers from reaching fire scenes.

The Lagos workshop luxury cars fire has also raised questions about fire safety rules, the location of mechanical workshops and the safety of businesses operating close to homes and petrol stations.
