Celebrations for the Zamfara 30th anniversary have started across the state capital, Gusau. The anniversary marks 30 years since Zamfara was created from the old Sokoto State.
The celebration also highlights Governor Dauda Lawal’s efforts to improve roads and other infrastructure in the state under his administration’s “Rescue Mission” programme.
Anniversary events in Gusau include the opening of new roads, commercial projects, and meetings with key stakeholders. The events look back at Zamfara’s history since 1996 and focus on plans for economic growth.

Zamfara 30th anniversary
Zamfara State was created from Sokoto State on October 1, 1996, by the federal military government. The state is known for its agricultural focus and its motto, “Farming is Our Pride.” However, development has faced challenges over the years, including poor infrastructure, limited funding, and security problems in rural areas.

The current government says it wants to improve development through better roads, urban planning, and modern farming. A major part of the anniversary activities is Governor Dauda Lawal’s road construction and public infrastructure projects.
Across the state’s 14 local government areas, new roads and other projects are being developed to improve transportation and make it easier for farmers to move their products to markets.
In Gusau, drainage systems, wider roads, and improved street lighting have been introduced to address flooding, erosion, and traffic problems.
Security is also a major concern for the state government because of ongoing attacks and threats in some rural areas. The government says it is working with federal security agencies and supporting community security groups to protect roads and farming communities.
