Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike questioned Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma about the way voters chose candidates from different political parties during the election.

Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors Forum, has been involved in discussions about the APC’s political position. Wike responded to the governors’ position and referred to the 2023 election results in Imo.

Wike questioned how Imo voters supported different parties in the 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections. He said Labour Party candidate Peter Obi won 360,495 presidential votes in Imo, followed by APC’s Bola Tinubu with 66,406 and PDP’s Atiku Abubakar with 30,234 votes.

Wike said Tinubu received less than 10 percent of the presidential votes in Imo. However, the published results show that Tinubu received about 14.2 percent.

Wike also noted that APC won two of Imo’s three senatorial seats, while Labour Party won one. He used the different results to question how Imo voters made their choices.
