Umahi Rejects Peter Obi 2027 as Minister of Works David Umahi has called on people in the South-East, including voters in Ebonyi State, to support President Bola Tinubu instead of Peter Obi in the 2027 election. Umahi has made similar appeals while speaking about federal projects and politics in the region.
Umahi said more political awareness about the Tinubu administration’s projects could reduce support for Obi in the South-East. He also urged regional leaders to explain what he described as the benefits of the Federal Government’s projects and policies to voters.
His comments come as political activity and discussions about alliances in the South-East increase ahead of the 2027 general election.

During his speech, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, talked about Ebonyi’s past political experience and its relationship with the Federal Government. He also questioned Peter Obi’s past political relationship with the people of Ebonyi State.
Umahi argued that previous political administrations did not give enough attention to Ebonyi in terms of appointments and development. He said political support should bring clear benefits to the people, adding that the Umahi Rejects Peter Obi 2027 debate should be considered alongside past political records.
The minister also spoke about calls for political unity during election periods. He said such calls often become stronger during campaigns but may lose attention after elections.
Umahi urged voters to look beyond political promises and consider the actual projects and achievements of political leaders. He also linked his argument to political continuity, saying major infrastructure projects need time and consistent government support to be completed.
He further connected Ebonyi’s political rotation system with national politics, arguing that structured political arrangements can provide continuity in leadership and development.
