A 60 year old man was killed in an Osogbo shooting after a clash between suspected gang members and the security team of Nigerian musician David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, in the Osun State capital. The incident took place on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 ,hours after Davido and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke visited the Ataoja of Osogbo.
According to the Osun State Police Command, the victim was identified as Tajudeen Yusuf, a 60 year old resident of the Oke Ayepe area of Osogbo. He was reportedly shot dead in the Ita Olokan area following the confrontation near the palace.
The Osun State Police Command said a full investigation has been launced to identify and arrest the suspect who ran away from the scene

According to Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi, Adebayo Taoreed, also known as Small Rugged allegedly tried to force his way toward Davido. He also said that Taoreed is an ex convict and a suspected member of the Eye Confraternity.This allegation is part of the police account of the incident while the investigation continue.
According to the police, Davido’s security team stopped the alleged attempt to reach him, other suspected gang member were reportedly draw into the confrontation, which escalated at the entrance where the group allegedly obstructed movement.
The police also said that the governor was able to leave the palace unharmed with his convoy.They indicated that the confrontation continued the governor and his convoy left the area .
Police are callling on anyone with information about the incident to assist with the investigation. Witnesses with the infornation about the suspects should contact the nearest polie station or use the command’s offical channels .
The police said the investigation will help establish what happened at the palace, how the confrontation escalated and the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
A 60 year old resident died in the Osogbo shooting involving Davido. The investigations is still ongoing to know what happaned and identified those involved.
