Opay denied September shutdown claims after a viral message alleged that the fintech company would suspend its operations indefinitely from September 1, 2026. The company confirmed that it remains operational and urged customers to ignore the false publication.
Dr Maxwell Loko, OPay’s Vice President of Public and Government Affairs, said the shutdown post was false and misleading. He warned customers not to panic, withdraw their money or transfer funds because of the fake news about OPay.
