The engagement comes as Nigeria pushes for stronger international aviation partnerships, improved connectivity, and greater opportunities for foreign airlines to operate in the country’s aviation market.

The delegation included Alexandra Dietzen Zill, Senior Manager for Aeropolitical Relations and Traffic Rights at Lufthansa Group, and Walid Mahmud, Sales Executive at Lufthansa Technik, Aero Alzey.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Friday, the minister disclosed that the discussions focused on strengthening aviation relations between Nigeria and Germany and exploring ways for Lufthansa Group to expand its presence in Nigeria.

According to Keyamo, Nigeria and Germany agreed that the 2010 air services agreement should be updated to reflect the current aviation relationship between both countries. He explained that the review would bring the agreement in line with how Nigeria and Germany currently cooperate in the aviation sector.

The Nigeria Germany BASA is important to the aviation relationship between both countries. It outlines the framework under which airlines from Nigeria and Germany can operate international flights between the two countries.
