The NIS UK Passport Extension has moved the special passport intervention exercise to October 3, 2026, following a strong turnout of Nigerians seeking passport services at designated centres in London and Manchester.
The Nigeria Immigration Service had initially scheduled the exercise to end on September 19. However, the NIS has extended it to October 3, 2026. The extension is expected to give more eligible Nigerians in the United Kingdom additional time to access passport services.
The NIS announced the extension on Friday, September 11, after seeing the high number of applicants during the first few days of the exercise. According to the immigration authorities, 1,477 Nigerians were successfully processed and enrolled within the first four days of the exercise.

More than half of those applicants had already received passports that were produced and sent to their respective addresses, showing that the processing and delivery of passports were ongoing.
The NIS said the passport fees for the NIS UK Passport Extension will remain the same during the extended exercise. The current fees are $162 for a passport booklet valid for five years and $242 for a passport booklet valid for 10 years.
Applicants should keep their official payment receipts after making payment, as the receipts are part of the required documents.
The NIS also stressed that applicants do not need to pay any extra fees to take part in the passport intervention exercise. It added that the application and payment processes are fully automated and strictly cashless.
Nigerians who want to take part in the extended exercise must book an appointment through the official website of the High Commission of Nigeria in the United Kingdom.
The appointment system helps organise applicants and allows officials to manage the number of people seeking passport services at the centres.
After booking an appointment, applicants should prepare all the required documents before visiting the designated centre. These include the completed application form, payment receipt, appointment slip, current passport where applicable, and a self-addressed return envelope.
The NIS said further information about the extended dates, participating locations and appointment procedures would be shared through its official channels and those of the High Commission of Nigeria in the United Kingdom.
