Booysens Court Shooting Victims Supported Accused in Mondeor Murder Case
Overview
A shooting at the Booysens Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg left two people dead and three others injured on Tuesday morning. The victims were at the court to support an accused facing a murder and attempted murder case linked to Mondeor.
Incident Details
The attack happened at about 10.30 am at the main entrance of the court. Gunmen opened fire on a group as they were leaving the building.
Police confirmed that two victims died at the scene. Meanwhile, emergency services rushed three others to hospital for treatment.
Connection to Mondeor Case
Authorities said the victims attended court to support an accused person in a murder and attempted murder case from April 2025. Police later confirmed that one of the injured victims is the legal representative of the accused.

Suspects and Investigation
According to police, three men wearing caps approached the group and started shooting. Shortly after, the suspects fled the scene in a white Audi believed to be a cloned vehicle.
At this stage, police have not confirmed a motive. However, investigations continue as officers search for the suspects.
Security Measures
Following the incident, Gauteng police commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni deployed additional resources to the area. As a result, police increased security around the court precinct.
Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact the Crime Stop line.
Government Response
Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Andries Nel is expected to visit the scene. In response, the ministry condemned the shooting and pledged to work closely with law enforcement agencies to protect court users and staff.
