Focus on Party Unity

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said his top priority is to unite members of the All Progressives Congress in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

At the same time, the governor made it clear that he has not endorsed, approved, or promised any elective ticket to any aspirant ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, rumours and political falsehoods could weaken the party. For this reason, he urged members to avoid assumptions capable of causing division within the APC.

Stakeholders Meeting in Akure

The governor spoke during the Ondo State APC stakeholders’ meeting held at The Dome in Akure.

During the meeting, party leaders reaffirmed unity and stepped up mobilisation for the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise. They also discussed strategies ahead of President Tinubu’s re-election.

In addition, Governor Aiyedatiwa explained that all party leaders would take part in the candidate selection process when the time comes.

Candidate Selection Process

On the issue of party tickets, the governor said the APC would explore a consensus arrangement.

He stressed that collective decision-making would help maintain peace within the party. As a result, leaders and members were urged to respect party processes.

Furthermore, he warned against actions that could encourage factions within the APC.

Call for Discipline and Loyalty

Governor Aiyedatiwa also called on members to remain disciplined and committed to the party.

While addressing the gathering, he noted that most National Assembly members from the state were present. Meanwhile, those absent sent apologies due to official duties.

He described the APC as the only viable political party in Ondo State and encouraged members to work together to build the state.

Reactions from Party Leaders

Speaking at the event, the APC National Vice Chairman for the Southwest, Isaac Kekemeke, praised the level of development in Akure.

According to him, the changes in the state capital are visible and impressive. He also thanked the governor for his efforts at uniting all groups within the party.

Kekemeke further commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for declaring forgiveness and saying he holds no political grudges.

Ondo APC Chairman’s Remarks

Earlier, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, described the party as the most dominant in Nigeria.

He warned that internal rivalry could weaken the party. Therefore, he urged members to remain united and tolerant of one another.

Recalling past elections, Adetimehin said the APC recorded strong results in Ondo State. He added that the party is now well positioned to improve its performance under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership.
