Police investigations suggest that the shooting may have been linked to a money dispute. Reports indicate that George Atuguba allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the main suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, but had not repaid the money. Osei Anto allegedly visited the house that morning to demand repayment. An argument reportedly followed, and the situation ended in the fatal shooting of both victims.
Before the Sakumono double murder suspect arrest, police detained 47-year-old Beatrice Mumuni in connection with the case. Investigators allege that she accompanied Osei Anto to the house and helped him find the victims.

Police later offered a GH¢100,000 reward for information that could lead to the main suspect’s arrest. Acting on intelligence, officers tracked him to a hideout in Tikrom, near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, where he was arrested on Sunday.
During the Sakumono double murder suspect arrest, officers reportedly recovered a Smith & Wesson pistol and seven rounds of ammunition during a search. The items have been kept as evidence for the case.
With both suspects in custody, police are continuing their investigation and preparing the case for prosecution. Authorities have urged the public to settle disputes through lawful means instead of violence.
