Isaac Fayose, a Nigerian businessman has raised concerns about Osun Election Thuggery and the security suitation in the State ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election, Warning that it could have wider implications for Nigeria’s poilitics.
The controversy followed a video posted on Thursday by Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, which showed the arrest of suspected political thugs.
According to reports about the footage, the suspects were seen in an All Progressives Congress campaign vehicle before being arrested. However, the allegation does not prove the guilt of the individuals shown in the footage. The relevant authorities should verify their identities, the details of the arrests, and any legal action taken against them
Osun Election Thuggery
Iseac Fayose expressed concerned over the video showing the alleged Thuggery and the political activities in the State , He described the development as troubling because it came just a day before the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
He emphansized that nigerians need to pay close attention to developments surrounding the election, because political voilence could have serious consequences, warning that election security could become a bigger challenge as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
According to his statment ,The APC had allegedly brought thugs into the state to influence how the election would turn out. this statement has sparked more talk about the election security, political violence, and the responsibility of political parties and security agencies to protect voters.
He said Nigerians should rise and take their country back, adding that what is happening in Osun State has raised concerns about the country’s political future.
He also stated that the security situation in Osun does not automatically mean that the same will happen in Nigeria’s 2027 election because every election has different candidates, locations, political circumstances, and electoral arrangements.
