Local authorities and the Kampala Metropolitan Police are investigating the incident. They are treating it as a suspected murder-suicide and arson case. The tragedy has caused grief and concern among residents in the community.
According to police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the three people who died were identified as landlady Violet Nanyombi and tenants Annet Namulondo and Bulali Isabirye.

Preliminary reports show that the house was locked before the fire started. Before the flames spread, one child was pushed out of the house and taken to safety. Six other people escaped with burn injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Police officers secured the area to collect evidence and speak with witnesses. Investigators also recovered written materials from the scene, which they said may indicate that the fire was deliberately started.
Kituuma Rusoke said police are also looking into reports of domestic problems and physical fights before the fire. These reports are part of the wider investigation into the deaths.
Local leaders in Wakiso District have urged residents to resolve family and financial disputes peacefully to prevent similar tragedies.
