AY Live musician fees have become a concern for comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY Comedian. He said booking some Nigerian music stars for his comedy show has become much more expensive.
In a video shared on September 16, 2026, AY spoke about the rising cost of bringing musicians to AY Live. He said some Nigerian artists now ask for ₦200 million, ₦120 million or ₦80 million to perform at the show.
AY said this is different from the early days of AY Live. At that time, some popular musicians joined the show because of their friendship with him and accepted smaller payments mainly to cover their expenses.
His comments have started a wider discussion about the rising cost of entertainment in Nigeria and the role of musicians at comedy shows.
According to him, some artists who once accepted smaller payments for logistics now ask for much higher appearance fees. He also said the higher fees being requested today have made booking major musicians more difficult.
AY recalled that artists like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, 9ice and Portable have performed at AY Live. He said earlier appearances were often based on friendship and smaller payments for logistics.

AY said comedy shows and music concerts serve different purposes. He noted that comedians have supported musicians by performing at their shows without charging fees and believes comedy shows should not depend heavily on expensive music acts.
