Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Irede Local Council Development Area have supported Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s plan to use a consensus candidate. This decision comes ahead of the Ekiti local government polls.
The leaders shared their views during a stakeholder meeting in Ipoti Ekiti. Ipoti Ekiti serves as the headquarters of the Irede LCDA. According to them, the consensus plan will reduce internal conflicts within the party.
Consensus Candidate Emerges
During the meeting, party leaders agreed on Asekun Sunday, also known as Papa, as the consensus candidate. He will contest for the chairmanship position of the Irede Local Government.
The decision followed the zoning arrangement already adopted by the council. As a result, Ward B in Ipoti received the ticket. This followed instructions from the APC leadership at the state level.
Leaders Commend Peaceful Process
Meanwhile, the chairman of the consensus committee praised the candidate. He also commended APC leaders in Irede and Ward B. According to him, their calm and orderly approach helped the process succeed.
Support for Governor Oyebanji
In addition, APC leaders thanked Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the initiative. They said the consensus plan has improved unity and trust within the Irede community.
Overall, the leaders described the move as a positive step. They added that it reflects the Oyebanji administration’s commitment to peace and strong political leadership in Ekiti State.
