Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that North Korea may send number of troops to Russia. He stated that Pyongyang appears ready to deploy between 30,000 and 50,000 more soldiers to support Russia.
Zelenskyy made this remark on Sunday in a post on X, citing remarks he made during an interview with the United News telethon. The claim has not yet been independently verified.

North Korea Troops to Russia
Zelenskyy explained that North Korean forces have already been arriving in Russia in large numbers. What started with a few hundred personnel expanded into thousands, and he now believes a decision has been made to deploy tens of thousands more.
He warned that such cooperation could give North Korea valuable combat experience, strengthen its military capabilities, and provide access to Russian technology, licenses, and equipment.
In response to these developments, Zelenskyy called for closer ties with South Korea. He said Ukraine is seeking support in areas such as air defense systems and drones, even though Seoul faces constitutional and legal limits on the types of military aid it can provide. Despite those restrictions, he emphasized that Ukraine wants stronger cooperation and that diplomatic contacts should remain active.

According to the report, North Korea has already sent around 20,000 combat troops and military engineers to Russia’s Kursk region. This deployment followed the defense agreement signed in June 2024 between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which formalized military cooperation between the two countries. If North Korea sends another 30,000 to 50,000 troops, it would greatly increase its role in Russia’s war.
For Russia, more North Korean soldiers would give extra manpower as the war goes on. For North Korea, joining the fight would provide battlefield training and greater access to Russian military knowledge. This possible deployment shows how the military partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang is getting stronger.
For Ukraine, it highlights the urgent need for more international help, especially with air defense and drones. If the deployment happens, it would be another major step in the global side of the Russia‑Ukraine war.
