Gaza City, Gaza Strip – Israeli attacks in Gaza on Wednesday killed at least 11 Palestinians, including three journalists. The killings occurred despite a fragile ceasefire.

The journalists—Mohammed Salah Qashta, Abdul Raouf Shaat, and Anas Ghuneim—were documenting aid distribution at a displacement camp in central Gaza with an Egyptian humanitarian group. Eyewitnesses said they were using a drone to film aid delivery when the strike hit.

“The bodies of the three journalists killed in an Israeli airstrike in Al-Zahra, southwest of Gaza City, were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah,” Gaza’s Civil Defense said. Shaat had worked as a freelance contributor for Agence France-Presse.

Other strikes in central and southern Gaza killed at least eight more people, including two children. In Khan Younis, a 13-year-old boy died while collecting firewood. A 32-year-old woman was also shot and killed nearby.

Israeli Military Statement

The Israeli army said it targeted a “drone affiliated with Hamas.” Hamas called the strike a “dangerous escalation” and accused Israel of violating the ceasefire.

The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate condemned the killings. They said Israel deliberately targets journalists. Since October 2023, over 200 journalists have been killed in Gaza. The Committee to Protect Journalists reported 249 media workers have died since the conflict began.

The deadliest single incident occurred in August 2025 when five journalists died in a strike on Nasser Hospital.

Humanitarian Crisis

Despite the ceasefire, Israel continues daily military operations and limits aid delivery. Gaza’s media office reported 1,300 truce violations in the past 100 days. Over 480 Palestinians have died and 1,287 have been injured during this period.

Israeli troops have demolished thousands of buildings along the Yellow Line, flattening entire neighborhoods. On Wednesday, they issued a displacement order for dozens of families in a village east of Khan Younis.

Humanitarian organizations call for immediate protection for civilians and journalists and urge accountability for the attacks.
