Intuitive Machines Completes Acquisition of Lanteris Space Systems

Intuitive Machines has completed its acquisition of Lanteris Space Systems, formerly Maxar Space Systems. The deal, valued at $800 million, includes $450 million in cash and $350 million in Intuitive Machines Class A common stock.

Expanding Space Capabilities

Lanteris is known for delivering reliable spacecraft for national security, civil, and commercial missions. Its satellites operate in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO). They support missile warning, surveillance, Earth observation, and space domain awareness.

Steve Altemus, CEO of Intuitive Machines, said: “This acquisition is a key step forward. With Lanteris, we gain flight-proven manufacturing at scale. Together, we can now build spacecraft, connect communication networks, and operate systems across LEO, MEO, GEO, and cislunar space.”

Strategic Benefits and Future Plans

This acquisition strengthens Intuitive Machines’ vision to become a full-service space solutions provider. Lanteris will continue under Chris Johnson as President.

Johnson stated, “This is exactly the outcome we hoped for Lanteris, and we are excited about the future.”

The combined capabilities will support upcoming projects such as the Golden Dome initiative, NASA’s Artemis program, Lunar Terrain Vehicle missions, and future Mars telecommunications efforts.
