Three friends waiting for a taxi close to the embassy told TV2 that they felt three loud explosions that caused the ground to shake.
One of the witnesses, Kristian Wendelborg Einung, said the blasts were powerful enough to create noticeable vibrations in the area.
The group said they drove past the embassy shortly afterward and observed a street filled with smoke.
According to their account, the smoke was thick and spread across the road in front of the embassy building.
