Bandits Attack Kabe Village, Kill Elderly Woman

Armed bandits stormed Kabe village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, adding to recent attacks in the North-Central region. The raid happened around 10:00 p.m., with several gunmen on motorcycles taking food and valuables.

A local source confirmed that Hajiya Amina Adamu, 75, was killed during the attack. No one was kidnapped. The source said, “They came late at night on many motorcycles, took food and valuables. Only one woman was killed, and no one was abducted.”

Timing and Context

The attack occurred just hours after Governor Umaru Bago visited the Borgu Emirate Council to pay condolences for recent security challenges. Earlier, the Niger State Government ordered residents near Kainji Lake to vacate certain areas for resettlement. The government hopes this will remove criminal elements from the region.

Governor Bago made the announcement during his visit to Emir Alhaji Muhammad Haliru Kitoro at his palace in New Bussa after a recent attack in the emirate.

Official Response

The Niger State Police are investigating. SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, said officials will release full details soon.
