Germany has received an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join an international “Board of Peace” focused on ending the Gaza conflict. A German government spokesman confirmed the news on Monday.

Stefan Cornelius, spokesman for Chancellor Merz, said, “The US has invited Germany, among other countries, to help build an international Board of Peace. We are grateful for this invitation. Our goal is to promote peace worldwide, and we particularly want to help resolve the Gaza conflict permanently.”

Purpose of the Board of Peace

According to the White House, the Board of Peace will help implement President Trump’s 20-point plan to end the Gaza conflict. The initiative aims to bring lasting peace, stability, and prosperity to the region.

Germany’s Response

When asked about reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin might also join the Board, Cornelius did not give a clear answer. He stressed that Germany’s top priority is a lasting resolution to the Gaza conflict.

Cornelius added that Germany will consult EU and international partners before deciding its role. By working with global partners, Berlin aims to support peace and stability in the region.

International Implications

Germany’s participation could strengthen international efforts to resolve the Gaza conflict. Furthermore, it could signal closer cooperation between Europe and the United States on Middle East peace initiatives.
