163 Worshippers Kidnapped During Church Service in Kaduna
Suspected bandits kidnapped 163 worshippers during a church service in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday.
The Chairperson of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kajuru, Enoch Kaura, confirmed the attack. He said 172 people were taken, but nine escaped shortly after.
Kaura explained that the attackers arrived in large numbers. They blocked the church entrance and pushed the worshippers into the forest. The victims include men, women, and children.
Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful on Monday.
Kajuru LGA has faced several mass abductions in recent years. Schools and churches have been targeted as armed groups use kidnapped victims to demand ransom.
The LGA borders Niger and Katsina States. Dense forests in the area serve as hideouts for criminal groups.
