The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Sudan’s health system is under attack. The alert followed a series of strikes on medical facilities in South Kordofan.
WHO reported that three health facilities were targeted within one week. The area already faces high levels of acute malnutrition.

Health Facilities Hit Within Days
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the attacks show renewed threats to healthcare in Sudan. He shared the warning in a post on the social media platform X.
According to WHO, an attack on February 3 hit a primary healthcare center. The strike killed eight people, including five children and three women, and injured 11 others.
On February 4, another attack targeted a hospital and caused one death. A third strike on February 5 killed 22 people, including four healthcare workers, and injured eight others.
Ongoing Conflict in Kordofan
Since October 2025, heavy fighting has continued across North, West, and South Kordofan. Clashes involve the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
WHO urged the international community to support peace efforts. The agency said ending the violence is critical to protecting civilians and rebuilding Sudan’s fragile health system.

Allegations and Responses
Sudanese authorities and human rights groups have accused the RSF of targeting civilian facilities. The RSF has not commented on the specific incidents. The group has stated that it remains committed to protecting civilians.
