West Ham United strengthened their Premier League survival push with a comfortable 2 0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor. The result moved West Ham within three points of safety while leaving Burnley facing an increasingly bleak relegation outlook.
The defeat extended Burnley’s winless league run to 16 matches and left them 11 points adrift of 17th place. Frustration among the home supporters was clear as sections of the crowd voiced their anger toward manager Scott Parker during the first half.
Early Goals Set the Tone
West Ham took control early and never looked back. Crysencio Summerville opened the scoring in the 13th minute, continuing his fine form by finding the net for a fifth consecutive match. His pace and composure allowed him to lift the ball over goalkeeper Martin Dubravka after a well weighted pass through midfield.
Just 13 minutes later, West Ham doubled their advantage. Summerville was again involved, creating space down the flank before El Hadji Malick Diouf delivered a cross that Taty Castellanos headed home. The quick double strike left Burnley struggling to respond and the atmosphere inside the stadium turned tense.
Burnley Struggles Continue
Despite playing at home, Burnley showed little sign of a side capable of escaping trouble. They failed to register a shot on target until the 32nd minute and looked short on confidence and creativity throughout the first half.
Supporters made their feelings known as chants calling for change echoed around Turf Moor. The mood reflected a team that has now gone without a league win since before the turn of the year and is edging closer to an unwanted club record.
Second Half Effort Not Enough
Burnley showed more intent after the break. Zian Flemming and Marcus Edwards both went close, forcing West Ham goalkeeper Mads Hermansen into action on several occasions. Defenders Aaron Wan Bissaka and Axel Disasi also made key interventions as West Ham came under pressure.
However, Burnley’s momentum faded as the half progressed. West Ham remained a threat on the counter and Jarrod Bowen came close to sealing the result but opted to pass when a shot was available.
Relegation Reality Looms for Burnley
As the final whistle blew, the contrast between the two sides was clear. Burnley now appear destined for a return to the Championship unless results improve quickly. West Ham, meanwhile, have renewed belief that survival remains within reach as the season enters its final stretch.
