United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group has announced the appointment of Loknath Mishra as Chief Executive Officer of UBA UK.
The appointment takes effect from February 2026. It reflects the Group’s plan to strengthen its international operations and deepen its role as a financial link between Africa and global markets.

Strategic Focus for UBA UK
As CEO, Mishra will work to position UBA UK as a centre of excellence for regulatory compliance and customer service. He will also focus on improving financial strength through diversified income and liquidity sources.
UBA said the appointment will further support its leadership in trade finance, transaction banking, and correspondent banking, helping businesses move funds in and out of Africa.
Extensive Banking Experience
Mishra brings decades of experience across retail, corporate, investment, and transaction banking. He has built and led regulated banking platforms in the United Kingdom and across Europe.
Before joining UBA UK, he served as Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank UK. During his tenure, he strengthened the bank’s UK and European presence. He also improved governance standards, regulatory engagement, and operational resilience.
Previous Leadership Roles
Mishra previously held senior roles at ICICI Bank Limited, including Group Head of Wholesale Banking and Global Head of Transaction Banking. In these roles, he helped expand the bank’s global wholesale operations and strengthened risk management systems.
He also led customer-focused transformation initiatives across corporate, institutional, and financial institution segments.
Industry Recognition
Mishra is widely known for his leadership in complex regulatory environments. He has also driven digital innovation in trade finance, cash management, and retail banking.
In recognition of his contribution to financial services, he received the Freedom of the City of London.
