US President Donald Trump warned that the United States is prepared to take strong action if negotiations with Iran collapse. He made the remarks in an interview with Israeli broadcaster N12.
Trump said the US prefers a diplomatic solution. However, he stressed that military options remain on the table if talks do not succeed.
“Either we will make a deal, or we will have to do something very tough like last time,” Trump said.
US Considers Expanding Military Presence
Trump also said the US has significant naval forces moving toward the Middle East. He added that another aircraft carrier group could be deployed if needed.
According to N12, a US official confirmed discussions about sending a second carrier strike group to the region. The US naval presence already includes the USS Abraham Lincoln and several supporting vessels.
Trump Says Iran and Israel Want a Deal
Despite the warning, Trump said he believes Iran wants to reach an agreement. He also said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supports continued negotiations.
“I don’t think Netanyahu is out of the talks,” Trump said. “He wants a deal too. He wants a good deal.”
Trump suggested that diplomacy remains possible if all sides remain engaged.
Netanyahu to Meet Trump in Washington
Netanyahu is traveling to Washington to meet Trump at the White House. During the visit, he plans to present Israel’s key principles for nuclear negotiations with Iran.
Before departing, Netanyahu said the principles are important for Israel and for broader regional security. He added that they aim to support peace and stability in the Middle East.
Talks Seen as Critical Moment
The comments come at a sensitive stage in US-Iran relations. Observers say the outcome of the talks could shape regional security and future diplomatic efforts.
While pressure continues to build, US officials say diplomacy remains the preferred path. However, Trump made clear that alternatives are being considered if negotiations fail.
