A South Korean Army attack helicopter crashed during a routine training exercise on Monday in the northern county of Gapyeong, resulting in the deaths of both crew members on board.
According to the South Korean military, the AH 1S Cobra helicopter went down shortly after 11 a.m. local time. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

The two crew members were rescued from the crash site and taken to nearby hospitals. However, medical officials later confirmed that both had died from their injuries.
Following the incident, the South Korean Army suspended all operations involving AH 1S helicopters. An emergency response and investigation team has also been established to determine what led to the crash.
Military officials stated that the training exercise involved practicing emergency landing procedures while keeping the helicopter engine running. Authorities are expected to review flight data and maintenance records as part of the investigation.
The crash site was secured by military personnel as investigations continued.
