Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that the United States wants Ukraine and Russia to reach a peace agreement by June. The goal is to bring an end to the war that has lasted for nearly four years.
Zelensky said Washington plans to push both sides harder if they fail to meet the proposed timeline. He made the comments while speaking to reporters on Friday, with the remarks released on Saturday.

US Pushes for Summer Deadline
According to Zelensky, US officials want the war to end by early summer. He said American leaders have outlined a clear schedule for negotiations and next steps.
Zelensky explained that the US intends to apply pressure in line with this timeline. He added that Washington wants a structured process that leads to a firm agreement by June.
Talks May Move to the United States
To move negotiations forward, the United States has offered to host the next round of talks on its own soil. The meeting would mark the first time talks take place in the US and could be held in Miami.
Ukraine has confirmed it will take part in the proposed discussions. The talks would involve representatives from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.
Previous Talks Failed to Deliver Results
This diplomatic effort follows recent talks in Abu Dhabi that failed to produce progress. US officials had hoped those discussions would narrow differences, but both sides maintained opposing demands.
Russia continues to insist that Ukraine withdraw from the Donbas region. Kyiv has firmly rejected this condition and says it will not give up territory.
Rising Human and Security Tensions
Zelensky’s comments come days after he said that about 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died since the war began. The figure highlights the heavy cost of the conflict as fighting continues.
At the same time, Russia has accused Ukraine of involvement in the shooting of a senior military general in Moscow. Russian state media reported that Lieutenant General Vladimir Alexeyev was shot outside a residential building.
The Kremlin made the claim without providing evidence. Ukrainian authorities have not responded. Reports say the suspect fled the scene and is now receiving medical treatment.
Pressure Builds for a Breakthrough
As the June deadline approaches, pressure is growing on all sides to find a solution. The United States has signaled that it wants clear progress and firm commitments.
For now, fighting continues while diplomatic efforts intensify. Whether the renewed push leads to peace remains uncertain, but international focus on the talks is increasing.
