The Puerto Rican artist ended his halftime set by displaying a message of unity, holding a ball marked with the words “Together, we are America.” Many viewers interpreted the moment as a response to recent US immigration policies, which the musician has opposed in the past.
Trump Calls Performance an Affront to America
Shortly after the halftime show concluded, Trump reacted on Truth Social, describing the performance as one of the worst Super Bowl halftime shows and claiming it disrespected what he called the Greatness of America.
The criticism was followed by a second post that drew wider attention. Trump reshared an AI generated image depicting himself presenting a map of the Americas that included Canada, Greenland, and Venezuela covered in the US flag.
AI Image Rekindles Greenland Debate
The image Trump reshared first circulated in January during renewed international debate over Greenland’s strategic importance. The picture shows Trump in the Oval Office alongside several European leaders, with the altered map displayed behind them.
Greenland is a semi autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. Trump has repeatedly argued that the island should fall under US control for security reasons, despite an existing defense agreement that already grants the United States extensive military access.
At earlier events, Trump declined to rule out the use of force to secure Greenland before later softening his remarks during a global economic forum in Switzerland.
