Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully stopped a kidnapping attempt and rescued three victims in Taraba State.

According to a statement from Umar Muhammad, Army Public Relations Officer for 6 Brigade, the operation took place on January 5, 2026. The troops acted on credible intelligence about suspected kidnappers in Sangai Village, Bachama Ward, within Karim Lamido Local Government Area.

Swift Army Response

The troops quickly moved to Jeb Jeb town and pursued the suspects toward the border between Taraba and Plateau States. On seeing the advancing soldiers, the kidnappers abandoned the captives and ran into nearby areas.

Victims Rescued

The rescued individuals include:

  • Nimron Umar Ab, 25

  • Safaras Ibrahim, 20

  • Habila Yunusa, 23

The Army confirmed the victims are receiving care and being documented before they are reunited with their families.

Public Support Urged

Brigadier Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their swift action. He also asked the public to continue giving timely and credible information to security agencies.

He said, “Public cooperation is essential to stopping kidnappers and protecting lives. Our troops will continue to maintain safety across Taraba State.”

The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army remains committed to fighting crime and securing local communities in the region.
