Manchester City Complete Major January Signing
Manchester City have signed Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. The move strengthens the club’s attack as it pushes for Premier League and Champions League success.
Semenyo becomes City’s first signing of the January transfer window. The deal is reportedly worth 65 million pounds, which equals about $87m. He has signed a contract that runs until the end of the 2031 season.
Strong Season Earns Big Move
The 26 year old has been one of the standout attackers in English football this season. He has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in the Premier League.
Semenyo currently ranks among the league’s top scorers. His form attracted interest from several top clubs before City completed the transfer.
Semenyo Praises Manchester City Project
After completing the move, Semenyo spoke about his admiration for the club. He said Manchester City have set the highest standards under manager Pep Guardiola.
He described the move as the perfect step at this stage of his career. Semenyo also said he believes his best football is still ahead of him.
Added Competition in Attack
Semenyo can play on either wing. He joins an attacking group that includes Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Oscar Bobb, and Omar Marmoush.
Savinho and Bobb are currently sidelined with injuries. Marmoush is at the Africa Cup of Nations and has struggled for regular playing time this season.
Journey From Bournemouth
Semenyo spent two and a half seasons at Bournemouth after joining from Bristol City. During his time there, he developed into one of the Premier League’s most effective forwards.
Before agreeing to join Manchester City, he was also linked with moves to Manchester United and Liverpool.
