Cassava Technologies, a leading African tech company, and AXON Networks, a global network solutions provider, have launched Africa’s first end-to-end AI-driven Operator-as-a-Service (OaaS) platform.
The partnership allows service providers and customers to use AXON’s AI-ready, real-time, multi-tenant platform over Cassava’s high-speed fibre network. This integration aims to connect millions of people and businesses across Africa and create new opportunities for growth and innovation.
Launch Announcement at Counder Conference 2026
The announcement took place at Counder Conference 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. The event brought together over 500 global investors, corporate leaders, and family office principals. It is one of the largest private capital gatherings in the Southern Hemisphere.

AI-First Platform to Accelerate Digital Transformation
This AI-powered platform will accelerate digital transformation for businesses of all sizes, including telecom providers. It provides secure, high-speed, private network infrastructure. Mobile network operators, satellite providers, and ISPs can operate with greater intelligence, agility, and reach.
AXON’s platform uses Digital Twin technology to create a live, self-learning model of Cassava’s network. This network spans over 110,000 km of terrestrial and submarine fibre, satellite capacity, and wireless connectivity. By virtualising the network, AXON reduces operational complexity, improves efficiency, and ensures reliable connectivity at scale.
Benefits for Businesses Across Africa
Hardy Pemhiwa, President and Group CEO of Cassava Technologies, said businesses need cost-effective, flexible networks. He explained that the partnership moves beyond traditional hardware infrastructure toward AI-managed, programmable networks. This approach reduces costs and allows near real-time provisioning and modifications for customer networks.
Martin Manniche, CEO and founder of AXON Networks, said integrating the OaaS platform with Cassava’s fibre backbone and AI-enabled data centres is transformational. He highlighted that the platform virtualizes the entire infrastructure into a live AI-driven ecosystem. This supports Africa’s digital and AI economy while encouraging innovation and growth.
Counder Conference Highlights Strategic Collaboration
Michel Weiss and Leonard Stiegeler, founding partners of Counder, emphasized the importance of the announcement. They said it shows how connecting visionary leaders sparks meaningful collaboration and drives impact in emerging markets.
