Senator Samuel Anyanwu, factional National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), confirmed that his group will take over the National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday.

He spoke after a meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday. In addition, he assured Nigerians that the PDP no longer faces internal divisions.

Court Ruling Resolves Leadership Crisis

Anyanwu said a recent judgment by the Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, resolves the party’s leadership dispute.

As a result, the ruling overrides a previous court order that led security operatives to seal the secretariat.

“The Federal High Court clearly stated that the problems in PDP are over. The November 15–16, 2025, convention is null and void. Only Abdulrahman Mohammed can serve as chairman,” Anyanwu said.

PDP Prepares for 2027 Elections

He added that the party can now field candidates for the 2027 elections without legal concerns.

Moreover, Anyanwu emphasized that the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed is the official leadership of the PDP.

“By Monday, we’re taking over the office. Party members are happy, and those worried about contesting elections no longer have reason to fear. The matter is settled,” he said.

Stability Restored in PDP

The statement shows that the PDP now operates as a united party under Mohammed’s leadership.

Furthermore, this development strengthens the party’s position as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
