BCI Bank Director Killed in Maputo
Pedro Ferraz Correia dos Reis, a Portuguese national and director of BCI Bank in Mozambique, was stabbed to death on Monday night in Maputo. He led the Mozambican subsidiary of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD).
Incident Details
Authorities reported that Correia was attacked in a hotel. Police are reviewing security footage to track leads. The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) confirmed the case as a “voluntary homicide.”
Spokesperson Marta Pereira said the incident occurred at 11:46 p.m. While the investigation continues, authorities have not yet identified any suspects or established a motive.

Local media reported the attack at Hotel Polana Serena. The hotel confirmed it is cooperating with authorities. However, it has declined to provide additional details.
