The Chongqing Rescue Operations is in progress after a landslide struck Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County in southwestern China on July 17, 2026, causing alot of residential bulidings to collapse and trapping an unknown number of people under the rocks and debris as emergency team rushed to the scene to search for survivors.

This incident occurred near Wujiang River where steep hills and mountainou land are more prone to disasters. before the incident occurred , the Authorities comfirmed that the residents has already been issued an emergency warning for them to evcuate the buildings, but Unfortunately the hillside collapsed during the evacuation process and leaving many people buries under the rocks.
The Chongqing Rescue Operations
Based on the information reported by the chinese state media, they said that around 8:00 in the morning a community worker started noticing that a scattered rocks are falling from the hillside which urge the officals to issue an emmergency warning and begin moving nearby residents to a safe place.
The authories ordered more than 60 people to leave the affected place before the hillside collapsed around 9:08 a.m. local time. destroing many resisdential buliding. Although many people were trapped during the evacuation process even though their numbers were not yet comfirmed, as the emergency team continue to search for the ones trapped under the debris to know how many poeple that are stilll missing,
China’s Ministry of Emergency Management activated a Level Two emergency response and deployed A 100-emergency rescue team ,206 fire and rescue personnel, 49 emergency vehicles, and equipment to the affected area immediately after the incident
According to china’s official News Agency Xinhua ,The Chongqing Rescue Operations has rescued nine people from beneath the debris, and only minior injuries were sustained at the time of reportings and medical team took them to the nearest hospital for treatment.

CCTV Footage showed large amount of rocks and soil falling down the slope into riverside home and huge cloud of dustt covered the area around the buildings .
