Police Raid Brothel in Anambra
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued more than 25 underage girls during a raid on a brothel known as Morning Star in Aguleri, Anambra State.
The operation followed intelligence reports indicating that minors were being forced into prostitution at the location.
Investigation Linked to Missing Child Case
Police authorities stated that the investigation began in October last year after a girl was reported missing in Ebonyi State.
Officers continued tracing her whereabouts until she was found during the raid at the Aguleri brothel.
Victims Brought From Several States
According to the police, the rescued girls were between the ages of 13 and 19.
They were reportedly brought to the brothel from different states, including Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Niger.
Victim Shares Her Experience
One of the rescued girls told officers that her cousin brought her to the brothel under the promise of a job.
She said she was told she would work to earn money to support her mother. Upon arrival, she discovered the job involved sleeping with men.
The girl explained that she cried and asked to return home, but the operators refused. They told her she must repay the money spent to bring her to the location.
She added that she attempted to escape twice but was caught and returned to the brothel.
How the Brothel Operated
The victim further explained that every evening, the girls were instructed to wear underwear and stand outside to attract customers.
She said they were told to deny having a madam if questioned.
Police Take Custody of Victims
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed that all the girls have been rescued and are currently in protective custody.
Authorities stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and prosecute those responsible for the alleged crimes.
The police added that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
