The Manager Operational Risk Management at MTN Nigeria Ikoyi Lagos will establish, implement, and continuously enhance the Operational Risk Management framework. The role ensures that operational risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored, and reported effectively across the organization.
Mission of the Role
The core objective of this role is to:

Provide independent advisory support to business process owners

Ensure consistent use of risk tools such as Risk and Control Self Assessments and Key Risk Indicators

Key Responsibilities
Operational Risk Framework Development
The successful candidate will:

Develop and maintain the Operational Risk Management Framework

Align policies, standards, and procedures with MTN Group requirements

Ensure consistent application of operational risk methodologies
Risk Assessments and Monitoring
Responsibilities include:

Facilitating enterprise wide Risk and Control Self Assessments
-
Documenting risks, controls, and action plans
-
Designing and maintaining Key Risk Indicators and thresholds
-
Escalating breaches with root cause analysis and corrective actions
Incident and Loss Event Management
The Manager will:

Manage operational loss events from capture to reporting
-
Classify and validate incidents
-
Maintain proper documentation of lessons learned
Scenario Analysis and Advisory

Conduct scenario analysis for major risk events including system failures, vendor outages, fraud exposure, or process breakdown

Provide risk advisory during product launches, outsourcing initiatives, partnerships, and system implementations

Support risk by design integration during business changes
Governance and Reporting

Maintain operational risk registers and dashboards

Provide timely reporting to management and governance committees

Coordinate remediation of audit and assurance findings

Track closure of risk mitigation actions
Third Party Risk Management

Partner with procurement and vendor owners to strengthen third party operational risk controls

Support due diligence and vendor performance monitoring

Address operational risk issues related to external service providers

Educational Requirements
