Lagos State Launches Seventh Edition of Ibile Youth Academy

The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has launched the seventh edition of the Ibile Youth Academy, a program that trains youths in leadership and civic responsibility across the state.

The opening ceremony took place at Faculty of Education 3 Conference Hall, LASU, Ojo Campus, where Commissioner Mobolaji Ogunlende highlighted the state government’s dedication to youth development.

Investing in Youths for Growth

Commissioner Ogunlende said:

“Investing in young people brings long-term benefits. Youths provide energy, innovation, and leadership needed for sustainable development and good governance.”

Since 2017, the academy has taught citizenship, leadership, volunteerism, and community service, supporting the state’s THEMES Plus Development Agenda.

Programme Schedule and Activities

Permanent Secretary Mrs. Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, represented by Abiodun Dina, emphasized that the academy also promotes social inclusion, gender equality, and youth empowerment.

This edition will include:

  • Divisional Leadership Training: 9–13 February 2026

  • One-Day Leadership Seminar and Alumni Launch: 17 February 2026

  • Residential Bootcamp: 22–28 February 2026

At the end, one state youth ambassador and five divisional youth ambassadors will lead community projects that address local challenges.

Fostering Leadership Across Lagos

The Ibile Youth Academy equips young people with leadership and community skills. As a result, Lagos State expects to create sustainable growth and strengthen youth participation in development.
