According to the federation, the complaint targets French referee François Letexier and the entire officiating team, including the VAR officials who reviewed key moments during the match. The federation stated that critical decisions were unfavorable to Egypt, with officiating described as inconsistently aligned with the Laws of the Game.

The goal first stood, but VAR prompted referee François Letexier to reassess a challenge involving Lisandro Martínez, resulting in the goal being annulled for a foul during the buildup.
