Pop star Chappell Roan said she is no longer represented by the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman, head of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. She made this decision after emails between Wasserman and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell became public.
Roan Emphasizes Accountability and Values
Roan explained her decision on Instagram:
“Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
Her statement highlights the growing demand for ethical representation in the entertainment industry.
Wasserman’s Past Emails and Apology
The U.S. Justice Department recently released documents related to late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Among them were emails from 2003 showing flirtatious exchanges between Wasserman, who was married at the time, and Maxwell.
Wasserman apologized for the emails. However, he said the messages were sent before Maxwell or Epstein’s crimes became public. He also denied any personal or business ties to Epstein.
Maxwell’s Conviction and Epstein’s Legacy
A jury convicted Ghislaine Maxwell in 2021, and she now serves a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking of minors. She was arrested in 2020 for recruiting and grooming girls for Epstein between 1994 and 2004.
Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019. Since then, millions of Justice Department documents have revealed Epstein’s connections to high-profile figures.
