A Busia businessman has gone missing after alleged officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations stopped his bus at a police roadblock.

The missing man, Ibrahim Mohamed, was travelling from Busia to Nairobi when officers stopped the bus at the Korinda roadblock near a prison facility. Family members say four officers ordered him to step down and then left with him.
Family Raises Alarm Over Disappearance
Relatives said the incident happened around 9:00 pm. Bus crew members later told the family that officers believed to be from the DCI took Ibrahim away.
The family also claimed he was carrying $136,000, equal to about KSh 17.6 million, during the trip. They insisted the money came from legitimate business activities.
Police Report and Community Protest
The family reported the case at the Busia Police Station. They accused officers of failing to act quickly after the report.
In response, relatives and members of the local business community staged a protest. They marched to police offices in Busia and later headed toward Kakamega after failing to meet senior officers.
Business leaders described Ibrahim as a well-known fish trader. They rejected claims linking him to criminal or extremist activity.
Senator Calls for Federal Intervention
Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah urged top security officials to intervene. He called on the Inspector General of Police and the Interior Cabinet Secretary to ensure Ibrahim’s immediate production or rescue.
Police Say Investigation Ongoing
Police authorities said they are verifying details provided by the family. They stated that investigations are ongoing to establish Ibrahim’s whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
