Rabiu Confirms Reward for Super Eagles
Billionaire Abdul Samad Rabiu, chairman of BUA Group, will fulfil his $500,000 pledge to Nigeria’s Super Eagles despite their AFCON defeat.
He made the announcement on Instagram, praising the team for their courage, resilience, and determination during the tournament.
Applauding the Team’s Effort
Rabiu commended the players for giving their all. Although Nigeria did not win the trophy, he said their performance made the nation proud.
“You fought with your hearts and showed true courage on the pitch. Though it wasn’t meant to be this time, you have made every Nigerian proud,” he wrote.
He added that results do not always reflect effort. The team’s unity, passion, and spirit were the true highlights.
“Even when our best efforts don’t bring the desired result, the spirit and dedication you showed are worth celebrating,” Rabiu said.
Reward Honoured Despite Loss
Rabiu’s $500,000 pledge was originally intended to motivate the Super Eagles before the tournament. He said the reward recognises their hard work, dedication, and the joy they brought Nigerians.
Super Eagles’ AFCON Journey
The Super Eagles impressed fans by reaching the semi-finals but were eliminated by host nation Morocco. The match ended 0–0 after 120 minutes, with Morocco winning 4–2 on penalties at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Rabiu encouraged the team to keep their heads high, saying the lessons from AFCON 2025 will drive future success.
