Barcelona moved four points clear at the top of La Liga after a comfortable 3–0 victory over Mallorca at Camp Nou. The result underlined the club’s strong home form and increased pressure on title rivals Real Madrid.
Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Marc Bernal sealed another dominant performance as Barcelona continued their winning run in front of their fans.
Early Pressure but Breakthrough for Barcelona
Mallorca showed some attacking intent in the opening stages. Jan Virgili caused problems for Barcelona defender Jules Kounde during the first half and managed to find space on several occasions. However, the visitors were unable to convert their moments into a clear scoring chance.
Barcelona’s quality eventually told. The opening goal came when Marcus Rashford’s right footed shot was blocked inside the box and deflected off Dani Olmo. The loose ball fell kindly to Lewandowski, who reacted quickly to fire home from close range and give the hosts a deserved lead.
Yamal Ends Resistance With Long Range Strike
Mallorca struggled to keep up with Barcelona’s tempo after the break. Just after the hour mark, Lamine Yamal effectively ended the contest with a superb individual goal.
The 18 year old created space outside the area and unleashed a powerful strike from around 25 yards, sending the ball into the right corner of the net. It was his third goal in six matches against Mallorca and another reminder of his growing influence this season.
Bernal Scores First Senior Goal
Barcelona added a third goal late on through Marc Bernal, also aged 18. Following a swift counter attack, Bernal surged into the penalty area and calmly slotted the ball home to score his first goal for the club.
The goal capped a strong all round display and highlighted Barcelona’s depth and youth development.
Impressive Home Record Continues
Under Hansi Flick, Barcelona have now won all 11 of their La Liga home matches this season. The win against Mallorca also marked their sixth clean sheet at Camp Nou, further strengthening their title credentials.
Barcelona’s attention now turns to a Copa del Rey semi final first leg against Atletico Madrid before returning to league action away at Girona on Monday, 16 February.
Mallorca remain just above the relegation zone and will look to bounce back when they host Real Betis on 15 February.
